Newsletter – 10th May 2026

Katy Hirst writes: This week’s elections will have led to rejoicing for some and disappointment for others. Yesterday I had a conversation with someone who was feeling pretty disappointed and despondent about various things in our national life. He asked where I found reasons to be hopeful and I responded that my faith gives me reason to hope: I believe that humans (created in the image of God) are essentially good (even if they are prone to sin) and that the world was created by a loving God who is faithful, just and works for our redemption. Our faith doesn’t offer easy answers to the world’s problems but it does enable us to remain hopeful, while not putting our heads in the sand. And I think that this hope is a gift that we can each offer to a world that desperately needs it.
